Let me knit it for you! Have you seen a design you love or want to give as a gift, but don’t have the skills or time to do it yourself? Do you just hate the ‘finishing’ process of seaming, button bands, and blocking? Let me do the dirty work and leave all the fun to you.
How it works: You supply the yarn and a knitting pattern. I charge a rate based on the yardage and complexity of the pattern for my knitting service. For example, an averagely complex jumper in a small to medium size will cost approximately £100. (All rates dependent on consultation – if I’m working without a pattern, it will be £150.)
Working with Designers
Are you a student or designer looking to get something knitted for a collection?
I have worked with students from several universities on their final design collections over the past several years, as well as working with several full-fledged designers, including Paola Rodriguez currently. As you may imagine, Dec to May is a busy time of year for this, so if you’re interested, please get in touch as soon as possible before your deadline. Special rates for students.
Includes: consultation on yarn choices, testing out patterns, designing from sketches and measurements, delivery of knitted items with a quick turn-around, and pattern writing. Fees available on request.
I provide a technical editing service for knitting patterns. I have a background in proof-reading and editing, as well as being an expert knitter. I have worked with several designers, including Aldersign on her latest book, An Elven Reckoning, and Karen Butler. References provided upon request.
I work with designers to understand what they’re looking for and will provide an estimate before starting work if requested. I will check the following: grammar, consistency of style, pattern maths (do all the numbers work?), sizing, charts and written instructions, and consult on layout, as well as checking that it all makes sense.
I charge an hourly rate of £15/hour for this service.
I provide a pattern layout service. This may be useful especially for independent designers who are self-publishing their patterns. You will need to provide the raw materials – a final version of your pattern text, an idea of what style you would like to use, and photos for your pattern. I will consult you along the way. (Examples of work provided upon request.)
I charge an hourly rate of £10/hour for this service.
